Flux 2 Online Without a 24 GB Card
Flux 2 Dev is the kind of model that makes people go shopping. It wants a big card, and most desktops do not have one. The workaround is not a smaller quant and a lot of patience. It is renting the GPU for the six seconds you actually need it, and doing the rest of the work in a browser tab.
This guide is the short path: six steps to a finished image in the LU Labs Studio, then the credit math so you can decide before you pay whether the browser route is worth it for the way you work. If you already own a 24 GB card, skip to the last section, because you probably want the local install instead.
Six Steps to a Flux 2 Dev Image
- Sign in at lu-labs.ai. The Studio is a web app from the same team that ships the open source desktop app. Nothing to install, no CUDA, no Python. It behaves the same on Windows, Linux, a Mac or a tablet.
- Open the image lane. The Studio splits into chat, image and video. Switch to image and you get the model picker, the prompt box and the editing tools in one panel.
- Pick Flux 2 Dev. It sits in the model list next to Flux Dev and Flux Schnell. Note the price before you click: Flux 2 Dev is 1,200 credits per image.
- Write the prompt. Flux models read sentences, not tag soup. One specific paragraph that names the subject, the framing, the light and the medium beats twenty comma separated keywords. Say "shot on a 35mm lens, late afternoon window light, shallow depth of field" rather than "photorealistic, 8k, masterpiece".
- Render. The job runs on managed NVIDIA H100, A100 and B200 class hardware. It is shared hardware, so at busy hours you wait in a short queue before your render starts.
- Download. Grab the file from the result panel, or push it straight into the editing tools: inpainting on Flux Dev, Qwen Image Edit, background removal, the eraser, or the upscaler at 2k, 4k or 8k.
The Credit Math, Done Properly
This is the part most hosted image pages skip. Credits are not vague; every render has a fixed price, and the arithmetic decides whether this is a good deal for you.

The credit packs need no subscription and work from the first purchase: 5 EUR buys 165,000 credits, 10 EUR buys 350,000, 25 EUR buys 900,000, and the credits do not expire. The Hosted plan is 19 EUR a month with 900,000 credits. Full breakdown on the LU Labs pricing page.
So a five euro pack is roughly a hundred and thirty seven finished Flux 2 Dev images. If you generate two or three keepers a week, that pack outlives the month you bought it in. If you are producing assets daily, the Hosted month is the honest choice.
The Workflow the Numbers Imply
Four Schnell renders cost the same as one Flux 2 Dev render. That single fact should shape how you work.
Draft on Schnell, finish on Flux 2 Dev. Prompt exploration is where credits actually go. Nobody nails composition, framing and wording on the first try, and burning 1,200 credits to discover that the subject is facing the wrong way is a waste. Iterate on Flux Schnell at 300 credits until the composition and the sentence are right, then re-render the keeper on Flux 2 Dev. Ten Schnell drafts plus one Flux 2 Dev finish costs 4,200 credits. Ten Flux 2 Dev attempts cost 12,000. Same result, roughly a third of the spend.

What Else Is in the Image Lane
Ten image models are hosted: Flux 2 Dev, Flux Dev, Flux Schnell, Qwen Image, HiDream, HunyuanImage 2.1, Z-Image Turbo, Chroma, Prefect Pony XL and Neta Lumina. Different houses, different tastes, all in one picker, so trying a second look costs a click.
Editing is a separate set of tools: inpainting runs on Flux Dev, Qwen Image Edit handles instruction style edits, and there is background removal, an eraser and upscaling to 2k, 4k or 8k. Face swap is not offered.
For context on the rest of the Studio, video sits in the same account with five models and clips of 5 or 8 seconds. An LTX-2 clip at 5 seconds costs 8,000 credits, which is a bit under seven Flux 2 Dev images, so video eats a pack quickly. LoRA training is included twice a month on the Hosted plan and is not part of a credit pack. If training your own style is the point of the exercise, the pack will not get you there.
Who Should Still Render Locally
Two clear cases, and we would rather say so than sell you a plan you do not need.
You already have the VRAM. If a 24 GB card is sitting in your machine, run Flux at home. Every render after the download is free, there is no queue but your own, and the desktop app is free and open source. You want a checkpoint that is not in the catalog. The hosted catalog is curated. There is no bring your own checkpoint, so a niche community merge from a model site is a local job. That is exactly what the desktop app is for.
Honest Limits
- Hosted image and video prompts follow the Terms of Service, and the prompt is checked before it renders. This is a hosted service on rented hardware and it comes with rules.
- Content involving minors is refused everywhere, always, with no exception.
- Shared hardware means a short queue at busy hours. Renders are not instant when the cluster is full.
- No bring your own checkpoint. The catalog is what you get.
- Accounts and billing sit in the EU, and there is no training on your data.
- The local desktop app is the other half of the answer. It stays free, it runs whatever you install, and nothing sits in the middle.
